Every Injustice 3 roster article is a wishlist wearing a different hat. The genuine leaks, the fan requests, and the marketing logic are three different things, and mixing them together produces a list that looks comprehensive and is wrong about almost everything.
This guide separates what the evidence actually says from what people would like it to say, and uses the only precedent we have — Mortal Kombat 1's DLC model — to narrow down what is plausible.
What a credible leak looks like
The Injustice 3 conversation has two tiers of source material, and they are not equal.
The resume leak. In April 2026, a WB Games artist listed "Injustice 3 (TBD)" on their professional resume alongside confirmed projects. This confirms the game exists. It says nothing about the roster.
The roster leak. Multiple character lists have circulated online since 2021, most recently citing names like Beast Boy, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Constantine, Deathstroke, King Shark, Plastic Man, Raven, Starfire, and Robin or Nightwing. These lists have some internal consistency, but they originate from unverified sources and have changed details across multiple versions. Treat them as a map of what fans want, not a document from the production team.
The critical difference: a resume leak is a professional consequence for the person who posted it. A roster leak is anonymous and costs nothing to fabricate. One is harder to fake than the other.
What the MK1 precedent actually tells us
NetherRealm's most recent finished product is Mortal Kombat 1, and its DLC strategy is the best available proxy for how Injustice 3's post-launch content will work.
Kombat Pack 1 included three guest characters: Homelander, Omni-Man, and Peacemaker. All three are violent superheroes from streaming properties owned by Warner Bros. or its close partners. The selection logic was not random — it was about recognisability, licensing feasibility within the Warner Bros. ecosystem, and media cross-promotion.
What this means for Injustice 3:
- Peacemaker is the safest guest character prediction because he already appeared in MK1. The likeness and voice actor deals are presumably done, and the character is DC canon.
- Homelander and Omni-Man are Warner Bros. adjacent but not DC. They are possible, but less likely in a DC-branded game unless the licensing structure from MK1 carries over.
- Johnny Cage from Mortal Kombat is a tradition — he appeared in Injustice 2 — but MK1's success with original guest characters may shift that pattern.
The practical upshot: if Injustice 3 has guest DLC, the first pack will likely mix one or two DC-native characters with one external IP that Warner Bros. can clear cheaply.
The DC fighter rebrand problem
The biggest structural question is not who appears, but what the game is called. Multiple leakers, including fighting games YouTuber Rooflemonger and MultiVersus leaker MultiverSusie, have suggested the project may move beyond the Injustice name entirely and launch as a generic DC fighter.
This would solve the ending problem. Injustice 2 closes with two mutually exclusive conclusions — Batman wins and imprisons Superman, or Superman wins and re-establishes the Regime. A direct sequel has to choose, which alienates half the audience. A rebrand wipes the slate clean and lets NetherRealm build a roster without requiring players to have completed the previous games.
If the rebrand is real, the roster logic changes. Returning characters become optional rather than mandatory, and the game can include any DC character regardless of where they sat in the Injustice 2 canon. That expands the pool enormously, but it also removes the constraint that was making predictions easy.
The characters that make sense
Sorted by how strong the case is, not by alphabetical order.
Near-certain returns
Batman and Superman. Franchise anchors. Whatever the story is, these two are the centre of it.
Wonder Woman. The third pillar of the Justice League and the most recognisable female character in the DC stable.
The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Black Canary. Core Justice League and recurring Injustice cast. These characters have appeared in every entry so far and have no reason to drop out.
Strong candidates with specific justification
Blue Beetle. Already appeared in Injustice 2, has a 2023 movie behind him, and fills a lightweight, gadget-based playstyle the roster currently lacks.
Booster Gold. A leaker favourite and a character with genuine mechanical potential — time travel translates well to fighting game mechanics, and his personality contrasts sharply with the series' usual grim tone. He also has a direct comics connection to Blue Beetle, which makes a dual reveal plausible.
Beast Boy. Shapeshifter mechanics are underrepresented in fighting games, and the Teen Titans connection gives him a built-in audience. He has appeared in multiple leaked roster lists with enough consistency to suggest someone inside NetherRealm likes the pick.
Peacemaker. Already proven in MK1, DC-native, and riding a wave of mainstream popularity. The licensing is done, the voice actor is known, and the character fits the violent superhero tone of the Injustice universe.
Plastic Man. Elasticity as a gameplay mechanic is unique, and the character has enough history to justify inclusion. He has been on wishlists since Injustice 2 launched.
King Shark. Appeared in leaked lists and has recent Suicide Squad exposure. A brute character with a distinct visual design.
Possible but less certain
Constantine, Deathstroke, Metallo, Raven, Starfire, Robin / Nightwing, Poison Ivy, Cyborg. All have appeared in leaked lists. All are DC staples. None are confirmed, and some may be held back for DLC or a later reveal.
What the fan wishlist misses
The most common mistake in roster discussions is treating every requested character as equally likely. They are not. The constraints are:
Licensing. Characters owned outright by DC or Warner Bros. are cheap to include. Characters from other publishers or streaming services require new deals, and those deals have deadlines and costs that do not appear on Reddit.
Engine work. A character is not just a model and a voice line. Each fighter needs a moveset, animation set, balance pass, and story mode integration. Characters with straightforward humanoid proportions are cheaper to build than characters who shapeshift, float, or have non-standard anatomy. Plastic Man and Beast Boy are more expensive slots than Black Canary.
Narrative justification. Even in a rebranded DC fighter, the story mode needs reasons to put characters on the same stage. A character who requires a portal, a time machine, or a multiverse crisis to appear is harder to write in than one who is already in the room.
The honest prediction
Base roster: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Black Canary, Blue Beetle, and a twelfth character who has not been consistently named in leaks. Expect a mix of returning faces and one or two genuine newcomers.
DLC pattern: one DC-heavy pack with characters like Booster Gold or Peacemaker, followed by one guest pack drawing from the Warner Bros. media library. The exact guests depend on which licenses are active when the DLC contract is signed.
Pre-order bonus: a cosmic or multiverse character — Anti-Monitor is the traditional choice and has appeared in multiple leak versions.
