Gear is the part of Injustice: Gods Among Us Mobile that quietly decides whether your roster performs. A character at the right level with the wrong gear loses to a worse character wearing better, and the gap widens the further into the game you get. Levelling and fusing gear is also where Power Credits disappear fastest, which is why gear and currency tend to get bought together.
The thing that makes gear frustrating is the breakpoints. Upgrades do not improve a piece smoothly — the meaningful jumps in stats happen at specific thresholds, so being one upgrade short of a breakpoint is functionally the same as not having upgraded at all. If you have ever sat just under one of those, watching a piece do nothing for you, that is what this category is for.
We list gear shards and upgrade shards separately because they solve different problems: shards get you the piece, upgrade shards make it worth equipping.
