Most Injustice: Gods Among Us Mobile gear tier lists are images with no context. The reader cannot tell whether the ranking considers Online Battle, Survivor Mode, or the campaign. They cannot tell whether a piece is situationally powerful or universally strong. And they cannot tell whether the person who made the list actually owned the gear or was copying someone else's opinion.
This is a text-based ranking with the reasoning behind each placement, sourced from community consensus across Reddit polls, YouTube gear rankings from 2026, TierMaker community averages, and the Injustice Mobile Wiki Fandom database. The data is consistent: three pieces are essential, a handful are excellent, and the rest fall off quickly.
Why gear tiers are mode-dependent
A gear piece that is S-Tier in Online Battle can be C-Tier in Survivor Mode. The difference is not the piece — it is what the mode rewards.
Online Battle rewards power generation and burst damage. A piece that grants power on tag-in lets you start fights with a ready special, and a piece that refunds power on KOs chains specials together. These are the pieces that appear on every Online Battle setup.
Survivor Mode rewards sustain and damage efficiency. Health carries between fights, so a piece that prevents damage or heals the team compounds across a run. The same piece that enables instant offense in Online Battle may be passive dead weight in Survivor.
The ranking below weights Online Battle first because that is the mode the community consensus is built around, but each entry notes where it shifts between modes.
S-Tier: essential (you need these)
These are the pieces that appear on the majority of competitive setups in 2026, regardless of mode or team composition. They are not the only viable choices, but they are the safest ones.
Tantu Totem
A 5-star Utility piece. Effects: crit chance on specials, power on tag-in, power refund on KO or no-damage, evolved refund on no-damage specials.
Tantu Totem is the only gear that can start a fight with a full bar of power and then refund that power on the next special. In Online Battle, that means you can potentially use a Super Move on turn one and have another ready. In Survivor Mode, the tag-in power means every swap enters with resources.
The Reddit community poll ranked it higher than Astro Harness, and the YouTube gear rankings from 2026 consistently place it at or near the top of every list. The Injustice Mobile Wiki documents extensive synergy with Batman/Ninja characters, Aquaman/Prime, and Harley Quinn/Suicide Squad.
Astro Harness
A 5-star Defence piece. Effects: electric DOT on specials, power shield on lethal hits, evolved invulnerability at 100/50/10% health.
Astro Harness is the counterweight to Tantu Totem. Where Tantu generates offense, Astro Harness generates defense. In a 15-fight Survivor Mode run, the three invulnerability windows are effectively extra lives. In Online Battle, the Power Shield and invulnerability survive opening burst teams.
The community debate is whether you prefer this when you are using it (Tantu Totem) or when you are fighting it (Astro Harness). Both are correct: Tantu controls the battle, Astro Harness survives it.
The Master's Death Cart
A 5-star Offence piece. Effects: unblockable tag-in damage, area damage on light attack combos, evolved unblockable on tag-in.
Death Cart converts the most common action in the game — tagging in — into guaranteed damage. The unblockable tag-in means you enter fights dealing chip damage while the opponent is still blocking, and the area damage on light attacks extends that pressure to the entire team.
In the Reddit poll, Death Cart won with 43 votes to Astro Harness's 31. That margin reflects how frequently the piece appears in offensive setups. It is the gear that makes Batman/Flashpoint, Deathstroke/Flashpoint, and other burst characters dangerous without requiring a full combo.
A-Tier: excellent (build these next)
The Ibistick
A 5-star Offence piece. Effects: special attack damage increase, DOT applied on specials.
The Ibistick is the DOT amplifier. Any character running damage-over-time — Flashpoint Aquaman, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow — should have this gear. The DOT stacks with itself and with gear DOT (Master's Death Cart, Quake Engine), creating damage that compounds across tag-ins and across fights.
Quake Engine
A 5-star Utility piece. Effects: extends DOT duration, evolves to spread DOT to the next character on KO.
Quake Engine turns single-target DOT into team-wide damage. A bleed applied by Flashpoint Aquaman with Quake Engine equipped spreads to the next opponent when the first one is knocked out, making DOT teams self-propagating. It is slightly behind The Ibistick in raw rankings because the extension requires a DOT source to be useful in the first place.
Cloak of Destiny
A 5-star Offence piece. Effects: crit damage boost, evolved unblockable chance on specials.
Cloak of Destiny is the crit multiplier. Any character whose game plan revolves around critical hits — Batman/Batman Ninja, Deathstrike/Arkham Origins — should consider this gear. It is below the S-Tier pieces because crit-dependent characters have hard counters (Red Son Green Lantern), but its ceiling is higher than most pieces.
Heart of Darkness
A 5-star Offence piece. Effects: DOT damage, evolved heal reduction.
Heart of Darkness is The Ibistick's less-versatile sibling. It applies the same DOT on specials but at a lower percentage. It is valuable for DOT characters who cannot afford The Ibistick's slot, and its heal reduction counters teams that rely on regeneration.
Gauntlets of Azrael
A 5-star Defence piece. Effects: life drain on specials and basics, evolved team heal on KO.
Gauntlets of Azrael is the sustain piece for characters who deal damage while surviving. It is most valuable on characters with strong combo enders — Batman/Flashpoint, Deathstroke — because the life drain scales with total damage dealt, not percentage. In Survivor Mode, it can keep a team alive across multiple fights without external healing.
Fourth World Set (Chest Plate, Helmet, Mace)
A 5-star Gear Set (3 pieces). Effects: team health boost with 2 pieces, evolved to area damage and additional effects at 3 pieces.
Gear sets gain properties when 2 or 3 pieces are equipped on the same character. The Fourth World set is the most accessible because its pieces drop from Survivor Mode regularly. The 3/3 effect is area damage on basic attacks, which makes it viable for damage dealers who lack DOT capabilities.
B-Tier: strong (situational value)
League of Assassins Set (Adept Blade, Adept Hood, Adept Knives)
A 5-star Gear Set. Effects: power drain on tag-in with 2 pieces, evolved to stun and additional effects at 3 pieces. The Hood is a 5-star piece even without the set bonus.
The LOA set is strong but requires three pieces to reach its potential. The Hood alone provides crit chance and power on tag-in, but the full set's value comes from the combined effects. It is B-Tier because the investment-to-reward ratio is lower than the A-Tier individual pieces.
LexCorp Set (Chest Armor V2, Gauntlets V2, Helmet V2)
A 5-star Gear Set. Effects: team crit chance and damage with 2 pieces, evolved to additional effects at 3 pieces.
LexCorp is similar to LOA in structure but prioritises crit amplification over power manipulation. It pairs well with crit-based teams, especially Batman characters. The individual pieces are decent, but the set bonus is what makes it competitive.
Nekron's Scythe
A 5-star Offence piece. Effects: DOT damage, evolved power drain on specials.
Nekron's Scythe is a DOT piece with a power drain component. It is strong on characters who apply DOT through specials and can benefit from the power drain. It is below The Ibistick and Quake Engine because its effects overlap rather than compound.
Sengoku Helmet (Batman Ninja Helmet)
A 5-star Tech piece. Effects: Batman Ninja team power gain on blocked specials, crit chance.
Sengoku Helmet is B-Tier because it is entirely dependent on having a Batman Ninja team. Without Batman Ninja teammates, it is an average crit-boosting piece. With them, it becomes one of the best power-generation gears in the game.
Mother Box
A 5-star Utility piece. Effects: area damage, power drain, damage reduction.
Mother Box is versatile but not exceptional at any one thing. It appears on defensive setups, but its effects are diluted compared to specialised pieces like Astro Harness or Gauntlets of Azrael.
C-Tier: niche applications
Claw of Horus
A 5-star Offence piece. Effects: gear disable on specials, evolved unblockable chance.
Claw of Horus gains value when fighting teams that rely on specific gear pieces. Its disable effect can neutralise Tantu Totem or Astro Harness, but it is a reactive choice, not a proactive one. It is C-Tier because you need to know what you are countering.
Gingold Soda
A 5-star Defence piece. Effects: damage reduction, evolved crit resistance.
Gingold Soda provides flat damage reduction, which is valuable but static. It does not change the fight's dynamics the way Astro Harness or Gauntlets of Azrael do. It is a budget defensive piece when better options are unavailable.
Militarized Batmobile
A 5-star Tech piece. Effects: team max health increase, evolved super move damage and invulnerability.
Militarized Batmobile is a team-support piece that scales with the character's own strength. On a weak character, it provides minimal benefit. On a built character, the super move damage and post-super invulnerability are useful. It is C-Tier because the benefit is conditional.
Brandished Ninjato
A 5-star Offence piece. Effects: crit chance and damage on basics, evolved block break chance.
Brandished Ninjato is a basic-attack-focused piece that works on characters with fast, multi-hit basic combos. Nightwing/New 52 and similar characters benefit, but most characters prefer the versatility of the S-Tier pieces.
D-Tier: avoid if possible
These pieces have some application but are rarely the right choice when something better is available.
- Ra's Al Ghul's Scimitar — power on tag-in that is capped at 2 bars, limiting its usefulness
- Riddler's Staff — power drain on specials, but weaker than other power manipulation options
- Scarecrow's Ventilator Mask — power drain, but less impactful than dedicated gear
- Soultaker Sword — basic attack damage, but no secondary effect
- Nekron's Scythe — listed here when not part of a DOT team
These pieces are not broken, but they occupy opportunity cost. Every slot spent on a D-Tier piece is a slot not spent on an S-Tier piece.
F-Tier: skip entirely
Companion Cards (Diablo, Enchantress, Killer Croc)
Companion cards provide minor stat bonuses and occasional effects that do not meaningfully impact the fight. They are the lowest priority among all gear. If you are missing S-Tier pieces, companion cards are the first things to remove from your inventory.
Individual pieces with no set bonus
Several 5-star pieces lose value when used without their matching set. A single LexCorp piece is a budget option. The full LexCorp set is B-Tier. Similarly, a single LOA piece is C-Tier while the full set is B-Tier.
How to acquire the pieces you need
Online Battle season rewards
Tantu Totem, Astro Harness, and The Ibistick all appear as top-5% Online Battle season rewards. The season rotation determines which piece is available, and the calendar of upcoming rewards is community-tracked.
Survivor Mode
The Fourth World, League of Assassins, and LexCorp gear sets exclusively drop from Survivor Mode's Last Laugh minigame. Deep runs (wave 10+) have the highest drop rates.
Nth Metal packs
All legendary gear appears in Nth Metal Ultimate Packs, with a higher chance in Pro Packs. Event-specific packs during Challenge Mode events offer slightly better odds on featured pieces.
The Injustice shop
The Injustice shop occasionally lists specific gear pieces and bundles. During sales, the effective discount from bonus character sales can subsidise gear purchases. The shop's value depends on current promotions, which change over time.
Injustice mods
If you have identified a specific piece as the missing piece in your setup and cannot wait for the next season or pack to drop it, Injustice mods can deliver targeted gear shards or complete pieces to your existing account. This bypasses the wait time on RNG and is the fastest route when you know exactly what you need.
How to decide what to build first
The ranking above tells you what is generally strong. The decision tree below tells you what to build specifically for your account.
- Do you have at least one S-Tier piece? If not, build toward Tantu Totem or Astro Harness first. These appear on every competitive setup.
- What mode do you play? If Online Battle, prioritise Tantu Totem and Death Cart. If Survivor Mode, prioritise Astro Harness and Gauntlets of Azrael.
- What role does your character play? Damage dealers want crit and special damage gear. Tanks want defensive pieces. Supports want utility gear.
- What can you currently acquire? Check season rewards, Survivor drops, and pack availability before committing resources to a piece that is not obtainable right now.
The Injustice gear setup guide covers the breakpoint system that determines when a piece becomes functional. A 5-star piece at level 0 is weaker than a 4-star piece at threshold, and the threshold is the only level that matters for combat effectiveness.
The short version
- S-Tier: Tantu Totem, Astro Harness, Master's Death Cart — essential, appear on every setup
- A-Tier: The Ibistick, Quake Engine, Cloak of Destiny, Heart of Darkness, Gauntlets of Azrael, Fourth World Set
- B-Tier: LOA Set, LexCorp Set, Nekron's Scythe, Sengoku Helmet, Mother Box
- C-Tier: Claw of Horus, Gingold Soda, Militarized Batmobile, Brandished Ninjato
- D-Tier: Ra's Al Ghul's Scimitar, Riddler's Staff, Scarecrow's Ventilator Mask
- F-Tier: Companion Cards — skip entirely
Tantu Totem is the best offensive gear. Astro Harness is the best defensive gear. Death Cart converts every tag-in into damage. Build these first.
